My first week at Tala: Harry Hope-Morley

The newest addition to our growing team is Harry, our Exhibition and Retail Design Coordinator. In this blog he gives a run down of his first week, his initial thoughts and a sneak peek into the non-stop world of the Tala team. Now, over to Harry…

As first weeks go in a new job at a new company, I can safely say starting as exhibition designer at Tala has truly exceeded all expectations with an extremely positive perspective. Tala is an extraordinarily forwarding thinking company with sustainability at the root of its purpose. This is what excites me the most about working here; to be directly involved with a company successfully attempting to impact climate issues globally. My previous experience involved creating holographic displays for retail, fashion and trade shows. Specifically, I was a product designer responsible for devising the way the hologram would look at exhibitions. As the summer drew to a close, I felt it was the right time to search for a career change. I wanted to stay within the creative world but explore wider design opportunities. That's when the role at Tala became available and it seemed the perfect placement to remain within the world of set design. My first week began with an introduction to a welcoming and dynamic Tala team, shortly followed by preparation for not 1 but 3 installations that would happen at the end of that week. A typical process for a retail installation involves design ideation, concept creation, prefabrication and finally installation. I had joined right at the end of the process which meant I was strongly involved in the actual installation. Here is the before and after… This was a great opportunity to just jump straight into the role I would be taking on. Exactly how it should be. Here's to many exciting design challenges ahead with the accomplished Tala team! Thanks Harry! See you at the espresso machine...
