Tala Studios steps out into the light
It’s crazy to think that just a few years ago Tala’s global operations were based out of a garage in North London. So it’s with pride and joy that we throw open the doors to our new global headquarters; Tala Studios.
Our new canalside home sits amidst art galleries, maker workshops and architects practices at the heart of the thriving creative community in East London. Its history can be traced back to the early 1900s, when it served as an industrial storage facility supporting the area’s flourishing rag trade at the time. Abandoned for several years, the building was lovingly restored in 2017 by award-winning Archer Architects.
Tala Studios has been designed with our ethos of ‘Conservation Through Beauty’ top of mind, with zero waste to landfill and powered by renewable energy. An abundance of greenery fills the space; many of the plants selected are identified by NASA for their air purification properties. Peace lilies, Spider plants and Boston ferns are just some of the species infusing the air with clean oxygen.
Perhaps the heart of the space is the kitchen. Fitted out with Magna Glaskeramik’s 100% recycled glass slabs and Farrow & Ball ‘Studio Green’ cabinetry, it’s where the whole team congregates for morning coffee and communal lunches. Right next door to where we feed is the Engineering lab, strictly off limits to most of us but visible through a see-through glass panel. This is where new prototypes are built, filament arrangements trialed and light characteristics tested.
Upstairs on the second floor, our showroom welcomes the design community to experience our new ranges and peak into the design studio to get a glimpse of what’s to come.
