Lighting design at Seven Dials Market, London
The all-day dining destination born out of a passion for food and the city
Tala's Porcelain III bulbs and Graphite Pendants were specified for Seven Dials Market, the all-day dining destination in Covent Garden, London. Working alongside architect Stiff and Trevillion and lighting design consultants Light Bureau UK, the brief was to complement the venue's dramatic glass ceiling with a warm, atmospheric light after dark, creating an evening environment as striking as the space itself.
Seven Dials Market brings together some of London's best independent street food traders in a single permanent home. The venue's industrial bones and glass roof present a lighting challenge, bright and airy by day, the space needed to feel intimate and inviting at night without losing its sense of scale.
The Porcelain III was chosen for its ability to deliver a soft, diffused white light at scale. Hung in multiples across the space, the matte white finish reads beautifully against the raw architecture, while the 2700K colour temperature creates the warm glow the space needed after dark. The Graphite Pendant provided the structural counterpoint, a considered fixture that holds its own visually in a large, open plan environment.
