An E27 fitting is a screw-in light bulb base measuring 27mm across. It's often called a "standard screw" or "Edison screw" fitting and is the most common bulb fitting used in UK and European homes. To check if you have an E27 fitting, look at your current bulb: if it screws in (rather than clicking in with two pins) and the base is roughly thumb-width wide, it's almost certainly E27. You can also check for "E27" printed on the base of your existing bulb, or compare it against the smaller E14 fitting (also known as a "small screw" or "candle" fitting), which is noticeably narrower.

Tala's E27 LED bulbs range from 2W to 7W. Because these are LED bulbs, their wattage is much lower than old-style incandescent bulbs while still producing the same brightness, so it's best to check the incandescent equivalent listed on each product page (for example, our 6W Gaia bulb has a 37W incandescent equivalent). As a general guide, lower wattage bulbs (2W to 3W), such as Lurra and Voronoi I, are ideal for soft, ambient mood lighting, while 6W bulbs, including Gaia, Elva, and the Porcelain range, are better suited to general room lighting. For a precise brightness comparison, check the lumens rating on each product page.

Yes, all Tala E27 LED bulbs are dimmable and designed for smooth, flicker-free dimming. For the best results, we recommend pairing your dimmable E27 bulb with a good quality LED-compatible or trailing-edge dimmer switch.

Tala's E27 bulbs are available in two main colour temperatures: 2200K and 2700K. A 2200K colour temperature gives a warm, amber-toned glow with a classic vintage filament look, found in bulbs like Gaia, Elva, and Lurra. A 2700K colour temperature offers a slightly whiter, "soft white" tone, used across our Porcelain and opal-finish bulbs. In general, a lower Kelvin number means warmer, cosier light, ideal for a traditional filament aesthetic, while a higher Kelvin number gives a cleaner, brighter white light.

If you want the best of both, our Dim to Warm range (the Sphere I to Sphere V bulbs) shifts colour temperature as you dim, moving from a bright 2800K at full brightness down to a warm, amber 2000K at low settings, just like a traditional incandescent bulb. It's a great choice if you want one E27 bulb to suit both everyday brightness and cosy, low-light evenings.

Yes. Our LED bulbs run for up to 30,000 hours, roughly 27 years of typical evening use, and are rated at CRI 95, meaning colours in your home render close to true daylight rather than the flat, yellow-tinged light of cheaper LEDs. Bulbs in our Sphere, Voronoi, and Basalt ranges are hand-finished in mouth-blown borosilicate glass, a stronger, more heat-resistant material than standard glass. Tala is also a certified B Corporation, meaning our environmental and social impact is independently verified, not just self-reported.

Yes. If this isn't quite the right fit, take a look at our E14 bulbs, G9 and GU10 bulbs, or our Dim to Warm range, which shifts colour temperature as you dim.
