Highlights from London Design Festival, 2023
London Design Festival is a major moment in our calendar, and this year it was a huge milestone for Tala with the launch of our flagship Showroom in Shoreditch.
Alongside this landmark launch, we had the chance to catch-up with friends and partners, discover new products and projects in this industry, and witness design ideas come to life from brands across the city.
Here is a round-up of our time spent during LDF.
Tala Flagship Showroom
To kickstart the week, we hosted a launch event for our first flagship showroom in the centre of the Shoreditch Design Triangle – a moment we're still coming down from.
With our launch partners Dezeen, drinks partner on the night MOTH, who recently became B Corp, and music from @whereisqendresa and @baetripxbarham, we pulled off a celebration that everyone will remember.

Highlights from LDF
We journeyed to the beautifully designed and newly opened showroom by Apparatus in Mayfair, where their sculptural creations left us feeling truly inspired. Apparatus is a longstanding partner of our and we were proud to see their cinematic entry to the London design scene, having launched their successful showrooms across the pond in the US.
The House by M.A.H
We then visited our office neighbours at The House by M.A.H on Vyner Street, an innovative concept store, gallery and online destination, immersing ourselves in a world of design storytelling. The fusion of form and warm hues in their exhibits resonated with the design ethos we love at Tala.
Vitra “Hackability of the Stool”
Our new Rivington Street neighbours, Vitra, presented the “Hackability of the Stool” project by Tokyo-based architect Daisuke Motogi. The research project and exhibition featured 100 ideas for altering Stool 60, designed by Alvar Aalto in 1933. This most hallmark of furniture design has remained in continuous production since its creation and 2023 marks its 90th anniversary. We were reminded of the magic that happens when you expose the potential within everyday objects.
We also love this stool - we have a few in our Showroom.

SCP: Soft Power
Our friends at SCP, held their Soft Power exhibition showcasing the revolution in foamless furniture: this year for the first time ever all of SCPs collections are foam-free. Foam is an unsustainable material which has held the furniture industry back from being truly environmental. SCP have developed a new layered method using natural materials replacing the foam and creating a truly sustainable and beautiful collection.
LDF 2023 has shown us that creativity knows no bounds, it’s what we love most about the industry in which we exist and thrive. The synergy between diverse design disciplines reaffirms our belief in the transformative potential of collaboration and an overall confidence within each brands individuality, including our own.
Until next year...
